ICON OF FIRST CANADIAN SAINT FINDS HOME IN HAMILTON

An icon of Saint Arseny, Archbishop of Winnipeg, monastery and seminary builder, and missionary to Canada, has found a home in Hamilton. Commissioned by Father Geoffrey and Matushka Linda Korz, the icon is the first known iconographic depiction of this first locally venerated Canadian saint.

The icon was written by Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko of Winnipeg. The work of Protodeacon Nazari is well-known across Canada. Following its completion, the icon was blessed at Holy Trinity Church in Winnipeg, the parish where Saint Arseny served for many years.

Copies of the icon are available from All Saints of North America parish in Hamilton for a donation of $20.00. Proceeds will go to the parish building fund
